The groundbreaking ceremony for the U.P. North Science & Technology Park was held last March 8, 2007.  Guest of honor for the event was Quezon City mayor, Mayor Sonny Belmonte. The S&T Park will be developed on a 37.5 hectare property located along Commonwealth Avenue (owned by the University of the Philippines) and will pioneer IT campus development in the country. It will be a low-rise office development set in an expansive environment amidst green and open spaces and will be a fully-integrated Information Technology (IT) and IT-Enabled Services Community that will be complemented by supporting components such as retail, residential, and hotel developments, all to be undertaken by Ayala Land. This S&T Park will support U.P.’s commitment to education, training and research excellence by creating an environment where high-technology enterprises can interact with the academe in research-and-development and other technology-related, collaborative projects and will be a major step in realizing the vision for Quezon City to be recognized as the IT capital of the country.
